Cherry On A Steak

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

Fasting and being a halal food blogger certainly has its perks *sad face* I have been putting off writing this post, because it’s been making me so hungry.

Last week I took a trip into Glasgow and seeing as I’m soon to start my college course there, I thought why not find all the go-to food places nearby.

And yesss I was in the mood for steak again!

Steak and Cherry is situated on Sauchiehall street and where traffic and parking is abysmal. I would recommend taking public transport. The nearest station being Charing Cross station. On a Friday and Saturday, S&C are open until 4am – amazing during the time of Ramadan and perfect for those other times you’re craving a late night munch.

Now let’s get to it, brace yourself for some mouth watering pictures and I apologise in advance for what this is going to do to my fellow fasting buddies.

Buffalo Wings – £4.95

The chicken wings were crispy and I really loved the spicy kick in the buffalo sauce. The balsamic vinaigrette on the side wasn’t expected but added a tangy combination which worked.

Sirloin Steak (8oz) – £19.95 & Peppercorn sauce – £1.95

After fasting for 19 hours and patiently waiting for the clock to hit 9:45 – the last thing you want to do after that first delicious bite is send your food back. This was the case, when my steak came to the table barely warm.

Once there had been some redemption, it was fair to say the steak was beautiful, however lightly seasoned. My favourite thing about this dish was the caramelised onions sat on a bed of rocket which brought this dish together well. And ofcourse the peppercorn sauce *drools*

Mac N Cheese – £8.95 & Sweet potato fries – £4.75

Here we have carb galore! Mac n cheese with garlic bread and a side of sweet potato fries. The perfect comforter food and can hit the spot better than a meaty burger at times.

The cheese wasn’t as creamy as I would have liked, that would have made this dish perfect. But nevertheless a well rounded – good portion sized – meal.

I decided against my natural instinct of ordering sweet potato fries and opted in for the standard mashed potato. Let’s just ignore that the side was bigger than the steak itself. Not that I’m complaining. “The more the merrier” – did I use that phrase right?

The overall bill amounted to £47 including drinks. I should probably stop ordering steak…

There was definitely some room for improvement on this experience but I wasn’t fully disappointed. I’ll have to come back for a fuller review and try the other delicious looking options on the menu.
