Fazenda On The Agenda

Fazenda, a Brazilian restaurant, brings a unique way of serving to the city of Edinburgh. I like to think of it as a fancy buffet but instead you are more in control. On your table you are given a round card coloured red and green on opposite sides. Once you’ve selected your sides from the heavenly bar, honestly the selection is so delicious and different, you then flip your card to the green side and a server instantly arrives at your side with a massive skewer of sizzling meat.

It was pretty confusing at first, we didn’t realise we had to get the sides first from the buffet bar then the meat would arrive. I only know what sides I want after I know what the main protein is.

I may have gotten a bit excited choosing the sides. It had everything, from fresh salad, veg, continental cheeses and some traditional hot dishes. The sweet pepper filled with creme cheese was my favourite.

Frango Piccante – Spicy chicken

Spicy marinated chicken breast. Their Instagram pictures are way more glamorous than the ones I’ve taken. It was hard to keep up with amount of food being flung my way!

Glistening lamb Chop

The rice was slightly undercooked which was a let down, but everything else was well seasoned. The lamb chop was tender and delicious.

I wanted to highlight the variety on the salad/side bar. I reckon there is something for everyyyyyone. They even had sauces and chilli flakes for those of us who like to add extra spices onto everything (that will be me). On this occasion though I didn’t have to add in any additional seasoning.

The set menu of £32.50 each I found reasonable as there was no limit to how much meat you could have and no limit to the amount of trips made up to the salad bar. We had to return our table within 90 minutes, which was more than enough time to eat to your hearts content.

The overall bill amounted to £80.19 which included an optional service charge of £7.29 and drinks. A bit pricey but definitely worth it, especially for a special occasion.

Address: 102 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 3DF

Telephone: 0131 215 1234

Halal Status: halal meat enquiries must be given 48 hours prior, you’ll be given a special plate that tells the servers that you only eat halal meat. The meat is cooked separately and every staff member knows the difference, which is helpful.

Parking: On street parking via pay and display – 13 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley.

Additional information: Fazenda adhere to a strict dress guideline, formal wear is encouraged i.e. no trainers. (slightly pretentious, but who doesn’t like dusting off the old suit and getting those never worn jimmy choos out for a whirl)

Ok so I think I’m going to switch things up a bit with the rating system. I feel changing it out of 10 instead of 5 will give a much better range as to how good the food was, you know? 1 being extremely poor to 10 being amazing!
